Nabi Nail polish in 106 round glitter and 138 Metallic Emerald

Pin It now!

I will admit, I really was not planning to post pictures of my nails. They do not look good. Did it quickly yesterday for a Christmas Dinner. Since these polishes were bought last year (was meaning to blog about it....got caught up with other things) and I wanted to take the opportunity to show you the colors. Granted this is not a full review. However, I hope these pictures might help you should you are thinking about purchasing some Nabi Nail polishes.

Nabi Nail polish in 138 Metallic Emerald.

This is a beautiful color. It should have been called Metallic Chartreuse. It only took 2 coats, although I admit I was quite in a hurry. In reality this polish can still work with one coat. If you are looking for an affordable metallic chartreuse color, do check out Metallic Emerald by Nabi-- it will fit the bill.

This is the glitter polish used to layer. Reason I used it  was because it resembled a bit of Christmas Colors and flickering lights. The glitter shown are round gold, red and blue. It has very small gold glitter as filler, to enhance the glitters. Formula is not runny or thick (just like the metallic emerald). I had to layer it twice to get more of a concentrated glitter. Both polishes took a good hour or so to dry completely. As in, once you touch it is hard. These two polishes are over a year old and perform as if they were bought yesterday. Extremely Happy about that.

So here it is. Gorgeous colors and affordable-- cannot complaint!
In case you are wondering where I bought it; it was purchased at a mom and pop store in downtown McAllen. No, they do not have a website. But hey, support local business!!! They help provide products that are hardly available in mass stores and you are helping your local economy!!!

Ok Ok Ok Michelle, enough with the political preaching.
Any questions, comments? write below! Hope you guys had a great Xmas, Hanukah, Kwanza or Festivus (*lol*~~it comes from the Jerry Seinfeld Show).
Christmas was good. Got a new phone (photos of this post are with the new Samsung Galaxy slider), a gift card to Old Navy and a gift from my aunt. Got the hubby the NutriBullet which I hope to review later this month.

Nabi Nail Polish #19 Mocha- a review

Pin It now!

Sorry for the delay in this post. Have so many things going on. Anyways on to the review.

Nabi Nail polish #19 Mocha indoor

You should know by now I am a huge fan of Nabi Nail Polish. Polish #19 Mocha does not disappoint. Mocha can be described as a true brown, maybe just maybe with a soft hint of red. Just like with my other shade #17 Sand, with this polish You need about 2 coats to reach full opacity. It dries to a nice glossy finish. Again my only complaint is that this brand is not available to the masses. I was able to nab this polish because there is a mom n pop shop that carries everything Nabi, seriously. I hope down the line stores like Walgreens or even Ulta can make this brand available.
Sorry about the crappy pictures, the weather in Texas has been great. Love the rain, however,  the sun is hiding and I cannot take a true picture in the daylight. When the weather improves, I'll snap a shot. *update* New image included below!

Nabi nailpolish & home made nail graphics

Pin It now!

Nabi Nail polish #17 Sand

I haven't reviewed the Nabi nail polishes I purchased many months ago, and I thought the timing was perfect. Let me introduce you to the Nabi nailpolish Color #17 Sand. Sand can be described as a pinky brown color. Let me tell you this color is pretty concentrated! You will need no more than 2 coats to reach full opacity and the formula is not streaky at all. What I would need to do much later is to give an update on how much this polish can take. In other words, if it can stand hot showers, doing dishes and so on without peeling. The bonus of this post is that at the same time I will update how my top coat and base coat performed. The top coat and base coat used in the picture you see is by Revlon Colorstay. I purchased it a few months ago when HEB (grocery store of Texas) had a 2$ off coupon for cosmetics including nail polishes. They usually run at 4.99 each (for the base coat & top coat). So, I got a good deal for the T& B coat. As for the Nabi nail polish? $1.00 !!

*Nail graphics*

For the nail graphics, there are 7 things you will need.
1. ziplock bag (generic type will do)
2. A dotting tool ( an old pen, tooth pick will do)
3. scotch tape
4. Flat surface (a shoe box and the lid will do)
5. glass bowl
6. acetone
7. toilet paper
8. old pair of tweezers

After you tape the ziplock bag to the lid. You get your dotting tool or old pen and with a nail polish star doing rows of circles. In between the drawing, the nail polish will thicken and that's the clue you need do clean the tip of the tool (to make it easier get a wad of toilet paper, place it in a  glass bowl, pour the acetone, so all you have to do is dip and wiggle the tip until its clean) and for you to start another coat of fresh polish for the dots. NOW, all polishes are not created equal. Some dots will peel easily and other will crack. To peel the graphics, you need a pair of tweezers. You will need to bend the zip-lock bag until you see that the graphic is separating from the zip-lock bag. With you tweezers, you will gently pull it up.  As you can see at the bottom. I say allow 24 hours for the dots to dry. When you peel off the dots, have a clear polish ready and do a quick one swipe on the nail so the dots can adhere. In the case with me, a few had little air bubbles. And yes, when you do put a top coat to seal the graphics, the dots will bleed a bit. Some more than others.

One more thing before I go, this was not my original idea. It was an idea that was shown by Youtube nailart maven

So here it is and share your thoughts on this.

Nabi Blushes: a review.

Pin It now!

--> Roughly over a month ago, my spouse and I went to downtown to walk around and view what some stores had to offer. By cheer and I mean CHEER luck, I happen to quickly see a store that had Nabi goodies. And of course, I needed to go in and see what else I had. Would you believe the store offered Nabi goodies and eyelashes for one dollar?!? I know right! After looking at all their blushes, I picked 3 colors that I did not personally owned. I chose: Almond, Hot Peach and Orange.

Nabi Blush in Almond, Hot Peach and Orange

-->
The texture on Almond is a creamy matte, both Hot Peach and Orange were slightly on the satin side (more like 80%matte and 20%satin ~if this makes any sense to you). The color Almond is a mix between Chocolate and Pink Rose. A perfect shade for contouring or even as an eyeshadow. Hot Peach and Orange are shades that offer a mix of peach and pink. Hot Peach is a perfect slightly bright pink-peach color that is extremely flattering. Orange, on the other hand, is a slightly darker peachy-pink color, again very flattering color. What is wonderful about these blushes is that they are not sheer at all. In fact these colors are potent and even build-able. These blushes beats covergirl blushes hands down as far color saturation is concerned. And even as the day progresses this color won't oxidize that much.

-->
On the downside, this brand is not available online for purchase (as far as I know). A real shame since this brand has potential of raising the bar in terms of quality of cosmetics at the drugstore level. My advice? when you have a day to kill and you are tempted to go to a drugstore, give a shot in your local downtown area and see if any mom and pop biz offers Nabi.  This is by far, one of the best investments I have made. I am looking forward expanding my Nabi collection. What are your thoughts on Nabi?
