Pin It now!

Hello World!!

I have been so busy today, had no time to upload pictures of the things I have purchased both at Ulta and Bath and Body Works--HOWEVER-- it has brought to my attention how many of you are coming to my page just for the Glam Shadow Sticks picture I have! Honestly, I feel flattered. With that in mind, I thought to upload a picture of the swatches yet again, BUT with flash photography compliments of my new Galaxy phone the hubby gave me for Xmas. And this sneak peak is a "THANK YOU" for those who actually browse here. Without any further ado, here it is the picture.

NYX eyeshadows: Browns, Grays, and Taupes**picture heavy**

Pin It now!

As promised, I am going to show you swatches of my Nyx eyeshadows. As before, this is a not a review. I will be giving my personal view of the eyeshadow, texture and how it's best used. Please take this with a grain of salt. What it is matte to me, might be satin to you. Nevertheless, I hope you find this information useful should you decide to purchase a NYX eyeshadow. So, on with the show!!!

NYX eyeshadow swatches (taken in the shade)*left to right* Rootbeer, Charcoal Brown,Dark Gray, Hawaiian Coffee, Gypsy, Taupe Pearl, Dune.

The Weather in South Texas has been slowly catching up to the rest of the U.S.A. At times the sun would come out, and at time it would not. The picture quality provided is the best of what I could do for the day. Same thing for the swatches I provided. The colors I will say are photo accurate. This is how they really look when I apply the eyeshadow.

Here is an alternate picture

NYX eyeshadow swatches (left to right): Rootbeer, Charcoal Brown, Dark Gray, Hawaiian Coffee, Gypsy, Taupe Pearl, Dune

NYX Eyeshadow: Rootbeer and Charcoal Brown

RootBeer: officially this shade has been described as "shimmer" and it is. A very safe color to use during the daytime. Perfect transitional color. Over blending this color will cause the color to disappear.
The color of Rootbeer is best described as a marriage of brown milk, dash of gray, and a pinch of purple. Sheer- light medium wash of color.
Charcoal Brown: officially described matte. It is actually a matte!! One of the most versatile colors that NYX provides. My personal favorite to shade my brow, and line my bottom lashes. Perfect crease color as well. Charcoal Brown is exactly what it is: a mixture of brown and dark gray. If you are looking for a eyebrow shade color that has no red undertone; look no further! This will fit the bill for anyone that has eyebrows the color of black (like me) and dark brown. Medium to full opacity. HIGHLY Recommend!!!

NYX eyeshadow: Dark Gray and Hawaiian Coffee

Dark Gray: officially described as a matte color and it is. This eyeshadow is such a disappointment. Chalky texture and looks patchy!!!! One of the most difficult to use NYX eyeshadow has available. A real shame. They need to reformulate this eyeshadow!!! I officially DO NOT recommend purchasing this eyeshadow. The color is exactly as described: a dark gray. Patchy medium.full opacity.
Hawaiian Coffee: officially described as a matte and it is! This is a beautiful unique color of the bunch. If you are tired of using brown color, give this color a shot. The shade sits between Dark Brown with a hint of purple. Completely matte and easy to use. One of my personal favorites! Medium to full opacity.

NYX eyeshadows: Gypsy, Taupe Pearl and Dune
Gypsy: officially described as a shimmer (at cherryculture, yes this applies to all the official descriptions provided). It is a shimmer (has a tiny bit of glitter) but with some color. Another safe color to use during the day time. As I mentioned, it has glitter but just a few specks (gold), not disco ball magnitude. The color itself is a soft brown-purple-red. Blending this color will cause color to disappear. Sheer-slight medium wash of color.
Taupe Pearl: officially described as metallic. It sits between a metallic sheen and satin. The color in the swatch can produce some  doubt. In real life it looks like an Antiqued Gold. Some will say that is a taupe color, while others may say it isn't. I am bringing this up because if you want to purchase a "taupe" color, you really need to face what is your definition of taupe. To me, taupe should be a marriage of gray and brown. This color is more of a brownish gold. The color is of great quality! But if you are wanting a "taupe color" that sits between gray and brown- this is not one of them. Again, this is my personal opinion. medium to full opacity
Dune: Officially described as a metallic, which it is. This color is actually a taupe!!!!!
A perfect marriage of soft brown and gray! Again, my personal opinion. Easy to use. Medium to full opacity.

So guys here it is as promised!  Tell me your thoughts, don't be afraid to comment here! Hope you have a good Tuesday!!!

NYX eyeshadow: browns and neutrals swatches

Pin It now!

NYX swatches of: iced mocha, true taupe, nutmeg, volcano and deep bronze

I wanted to take today and provide you some swatches of NYX shadows that I already own. This really will not be a review. I will take a little time to tell you about the shade. Will also describe a little about the shade. Hopefully this can give you an idea of the color and how to best use it.

NYX eyeshadow: iced mocha and true taupe

Iced Mocha: for me frosty/satin finish. a brown, gold mix. medium to dark opacity
True Taupe: for me a matte/satin finish. soft brown/gray color. light opacity. best used as an over wash of color for eyelid. you will need to layer the color a few times for the color to show up. best used with a large shade brush. Will not deposit enough color should you use a shade brush like the $1.00 dollar one from elf. I tried that and I failed miserably.

NYX eyeshadow: Nutmeg and Volcano

Nutmeg: a satin/matte finish (more satin). a bronze, pinkish, champagne color. sheer opacity. best used as a eyelid color/wash. you will need to layer this a few times for the color to show up. Like True Taupe, you will need to use a large shade brush with dense bristles so the shade can deposit color on your lid.
Volcano:a matte/shimmer hybrid, but more on the shimmer side. golden, pink, maroon in color. not recommended for crease. if you use this as a crease color, as shimmer will disappear. best use as a liner color or lid color. you must use a good eyeshadow base for the shimmer to stay on. light to medium opacity.

NYX eyeshadow: Volcano and Deep Bronze

Volcano: Please see above for description.
Deep Bronze: shimmer/matte color. a brown/bronze color. light to medium opacity. could be used as a crease color/liner color.

Here it is guys. In case what you are wondering was is that yellowish stickers on the lids. It is my description of the color since I use tackle boxes to organize my eyeshadow.

Hope this helps ya! Take Care!

Nyx lipgloss in Sponge Cake-swatch and review

Pin It now!

Nyx lipgloss in Sponge Cake

If you were to read a few posts below, you will notice this is the shade I purchased during my modest Ulta Haul. A Haul in which I rightfully used their 3.50 off a 10$ "purchase"  PROMO to my advantage. I will admit, I was not planning to purchase a gloss. The real reason I purchased this shade is because I thought it was a shade that would compliment my lip color and complexion. I will say this was the most expensive item of the haul. At the price of 5.49 then minus (-1.28) b/c of the promo. So at 4.21, for a moment I thought, is it really worth it?? We shall soon see about that!
NYX lipgloss Sponge Cake swatches

Now just by looking at the swatches, the color is actually really pretty. It sits between a red/pink with a pinch of brown. It has little glitters, which I don't mind at all.

This a shade I can honestly say you can get away using it alone if you are not in the mood of wearing a lipstick. If you are into the whole "barely there" look, this is the perfect lipgloss to purchase since it just enhances your lip color. it is not a "bright" lipgloss or as pinkish looking as the Ulta gloss I happened to review (look below). This is more muted, a perfect everyday color if you ask me. It does have glitters and I like it since it gives the illusion that your lips are plump (not that I need the help int hat department). It still has the same "Nyx lipgloss" flavor regardless of lipgloss color. Wear time is pretty short. If you drink soda or anything for that matter you will need to reapply afterward, every time. But is it worth the $5.49? At the end that question can only be answered by you. If any cosmetic you purchase meets your expectations whether it is a $5.00 item or $50.00, then that purchase it worth it. It met mine. But I will hold off buying them unless they are on sale. That's me though. But I highly recommend it IF and only IF you are looking for a color that naturally enhances your lip color and don't mind the glitter.

NYX eyeshadow #10 Underneathe It All- swatch and review

Pin It now!

NYX matte eyeshadow #10 Underneathe It All
Just as promised I am going to be reviewing Nyx Matte Eyeshadow in Underneathe It all (spelling exactly how it is labeled). I have been looking for a soft brown shade for quite some time. I would have thought this post would be an easy one. I was completely wrong. FYI Shadow retails for 4.99 @ Ulta, where I purchased it.
NYX Underneathe It All swatched
I thought I bought a nice brown shade. After making some swatches, I frankly cannot categorize this shade! It is a mix between brown, gray, taupe.... Now you see my frustration?! The color was quite silky smooth, pigmented, not dusty at all. I want to say it is 100% matte, but I would be lying. It is more like 90% matte, 10% satin. It blends well and perfect for a daytime Smokey eye. Not an "in your face" color, if you catch my drift. As I mentioned, this is one of the best colors from the new Matte Shade range Nyx is providing. I really like it and would recommend to anyone looking for an office friendly taupe (y)/ brown/grayish color.

Swatch Nyx Glam Shadow Stick, and small Ulta haul

Pin It now!

Nyx Glam Shadow Stick Display

I have been having a bad weekend. My hubby was kind enough to let me walk around Ulta and purchase a few items. As always, I am a huge fan of NYX cosmetics. I noticed (thanks to gossmakeup artist, from youtube) that NYX came out with 3? brand new products. Aqua Luxe gloss, lipstick and a shadow stick (not to be confused with Jumbo eye pencils). Sadly, they displayed the new lipstick in a corner not even close to the NYX display. I only saw about 3 lipsticks, and about 3? glosses. I highly recommend you check out wayne from gossmakeup since in his video he actually tries out a lipstick and a gloss (video provided below). I did check out the lipstick (sorry I did not post any of the glosses, and lippies) but I will say its a hybrid of a lipstick and gloss in one. It was super creamy yet metallic. The gloss looked like the Milani 3d glosses but with alot of glitter and mica. The kind of lipstick/gloss you want to wear at a photo shoot. As for the shadow stick which are priced at 4.49

***EDIT 01-02-13// NEW GLAM STICK SWATCHES!!, CLICK BRAND:NYX ON RIGHT!!***

The Nyx Glam Shadow Stick have a lot of glitter and not as "heavy feel" as the Jumbo eye pencil. Its the perfect shadow stick for highlighting your brow or inner duct area. My favorite of the bunch is 24 karat, pink ruby and diamond. When I cleaned my back hand, 24  Karat had a bunch of little gold glitters. very very small. While pink ruby and diamond gave off a silverish white glitter. Perfect for the inner duct area. Personally, I was not too impressed with the other colors. Wicked Onyx and Glistening Emerald would be perfect for a smoky eye or used to give a shadow some pizazz (Ulta's eyeshadow Glamazon would be a perfect compliment for G. Emerald) I checked out the new matte eyeshadow as well and they were such a disappointment, not even swatch worthy. Almost all of them were too powdery and chalky. You are better off getting the matte shades from those palettes you can purchase at either bhcosmetics or coastal scents (my opinion). I only purchased 1 shadow because that shadow seemed as good as a mac shade. The name of the shadow (which I will swatch once the weather improves) is #10 Underneath It All. Below is a basic picture of the haul.

I am thrilled to try all items that I purchased and cannot wait to see if this base will replace my Urban Decay Primer Potion.  After the 3.50 off the 10$ purchase, I ended up paying 12.41 including tax for all items pictured above.

Well I better get to testing! Hope you guys are having a good day!

Nyx Cream Blush in Orange

Pin It now!

Nyx Cream blush in Orange

The color orange has been the rage of this season. Orange lips, nails, you name it! But how often do we come across an orange cheek color that is both flattering and affordable? Case in point Nyx orange cream blush. I know what you are thinking: "Hello, is summer...I am going to sweat....skin is super oily....cream and summer don't mix". Aha, but this is where YOU are wrong! Summer is about natural shine and glow. When we do it in moderation, it can look fantastic on you. This orange shade (to me) is the most underrated color of the bunch. You always hear about Nyx  "Rose petal", "natural" or "Boho chic". And no love for orange???? And let me tell you, this orange shade give a sublime glow and flush. If you have skin that has yellow or neutral understones, you gotta buy this cream blush. The wear time (for my skin~combo oily, some days plain oily) is about 3-4 hours. When I layer it with a blush it extends the wear for 1.5 to 2 hours. The pigmentation?? Phenomenal. Price? 6.75. This compact 3.5 grams of creamy goodness will last you a long time. So when you happen to shop for Nyx brand or look for a flattering cheek color, give the orange cream blush some love. It will love you back.
